I knew it was time to start a blog when a FB friend complained about others' posts with political content during an election season. What? If we can't talk about political issues virtually, and we still aren't supposed to talk about them in company, how are we supposed to have a political discourse? I am one who learns through engaging, and I want more than the comforting affirmations of media outlets of my own persuasion--and I want to hear more from others than a regurgitation of their preferred outlet's sound bites and idioms. So here I am, not because I want to proselytize my positions, but because I want to put some ideas out there and welcome others to respond and comment with their own perspectives. Consider this blog an invitation to a civil dialog about issues that matter, for polite (but passionate) conversations about important issues, even when our perspectives may differ. I will try not to take any of it personally, and ask that you not either.
But fair warning...I reserve the right to comment on anything, not just ideas, but also books, movies, modern child rearing, the gamut. I have been intimidated by the idea of a public platform, but no longer!
